  18. Internet  Service  Provider  in  a few days time, and they are running the
  19. local  hub  on  a NT platform.  Now I have got PPP1.44(unreg) working so I
  20. can  dial  into  their  modem pool(7!!) and I can even check out their WEB
  21. page.   You  might ask what wrong with this?  Well even though the actuall
  22. location  of  the  hub  is  only 5 minutes walking distance(and is a local
  23. call)  the  next nearst hub/ISP is STD.  Which is the reason I am changing
  24. over to the local one.

  26.         Now the problem is that the person setting it up has NO experience
  27. with  NT  as  a  network  platform,  has  no  experience  of  the internet
  28. systems/ports/tcpip  other  than  a  occasionial  user.   He is a hardware
  29. person,  as  he sells PC-boxs to order.  And I cant seem to get through to
  30. him that he might need some experienced person(s) to configure it properly
  31. for him.

  33.         The other thing is, this is for all the people out there using the
  34. PPP(nt  version)  and  Amitcp4.0, When you enter the commands:  'hostname'
  35. and  'askhost  $ppp0iplocal'  do  you  get or are you ment to get anything
  36. back.   Because  currently  I dont get anything back, this simply might be
  37. becase  he  hasn't  setup  a  DNS server/router, but hostname should still
  38. return  something.   ie the dynamicly assigned name for the modem I dialed
  39. in on.?

  41. Please  help,  as  if I cant get this going soon on my Amiga, I might just
  42. have  to start using a PC to hop on the local ISP, And so far there are 35
  43. users registered and we have a 64K ISDN line.
